Moldova has synchronized its switch to daylight saving time with the EU and Ukraine
For the first time, Moldova switched to daylight saving time at the same time as the European Union and Ukraine, abandoning the old system that had remained from the Soviet era.
According to Moldpres, the government adopted the relevant decision in late February.
From now on, clocks will be adjusted according to the European schedule: in the spring at 3:00 a.m. and in the fall at 4:00 a.m. local time.
Previously, Moldova switched to daylight saving time earlier—at 2:00 a.m. in March and at 3:00 a.m. in October.
EU countries make the transition simultaneously: on the last Sunday in March to daylight saving time, and on the last Sunday in October back to standard time.
Moldova’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved the introduction of a state of emergency in the energy sector for 60 days. The final decision will be made by parliament at an extraordinary session today at 5:00 p.m.
Earlier reports indicated that Moldova may declare a state of emergency in the energy sector on March 24 for a period of 60 days amid massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s power grid.
