Moldova is withdrawing from the CIS following a decision by parliament
The Moldovan Parliament voted to denounce the agreement establishing the CIS, the relevant protocol, and the organization’s charter.

The decision was supported by 60 deputies.
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained the move by stating that the CIS principles are not being upheld, particularly regarding respect for the territorial integrity of states.
It specifically highlights Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the war against Georgia, and the illegal presence of troops in Moldova itself.
Withdrawal from the CIS is also seen as a step toward EU accession.
In total, the country has already denounced about 70 agreements as part of its refusal to cooperate with the CIS.
