Moldova has condemned the Russian attack near its border; there are fatalities and injuries
Moldova has strongly condemned yet another Russian attack on Ukraine near the Moldovan border. In particular, the Ukrainian “Starokozache” border crossing was targeted, resulting in deaths and injuries, including among Ukrainian border guards.
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry noted that overnight, Russian troops struck an area located in close proximity to the Moldovan border.
The attack took place near the “Tudora” border crossing on the Moldovan side and the “Starokozache” border crossing on Ukrainian territory.
“As a result of these attacks, there have been fatalities and injuries, including among Ukrainian border guards. We express our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded,” the Moldovan Foreign Ministry stated.
Thus, the consequences of the Russian strike directly affected the area near Moldovan territory.
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry also noted that a drone had crashed on the country’s territory the day before.
Debris from the UAV was found near the village of Stari Mykhailiany in the Rîșcani District. According to preliminary assessments, it resembles a Russian “Geran”-type drone.
An explosion occurred after the drone crashed.
Officials in Chisinau emphasized that Russian military operations taking place near the Moldovan border pose a threat not only to Ukraine but also directly to Moldova.
“Military operations taking place in close proximity to our country pose a direct threat to the security of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens,” the ministry stated.
Moldova expressed solidarity with Ukraine and emphasized that such incidents demonstrate the extent to which Russian aggression affects not only Ukraine but also the security of the entire region.
Chisinau urged that Russian strikes near the Moldovan border pose immediate risks to the country’s citizens and infrastructure.
This is stated in a statement by the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian Federation—an aggressor state—attacked a border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova in the Odesa region with drones. Two civilians were killed, and three others were injured.
On the night of September 9, Russian troops attacked the “Starokozache” border crossing with strike drones. Following the attack, operations at the international road border crossing were temporarily suspended.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
