Guangzhou Maritime Court mediates vessel collision dispute — ECNS
The Guangzhou Maritime Court in China successfully mediated a dispute over a collision between two foreign vessels in waters near the Strait of Hormuz. The parties concluded a settlement agreement, and the total amount in dispute was approximately 180 million yuan, or about $25 million.
Chinese law and jurisdiction
The foreign parties agreed to apply Chinese law and recognized the jurisdiction of the Guangzhou Maritime Court. ECNS reports, citing the Global Times.

The maritime court is located in Guangdong province in southern China, while the incident itself occurred outside the country, in waters near the Strait of Hormuz. According to ECNS, the case was an example of a Chinese maritime court considering a complex international shipping dispute involving foreign parties.
