China’s Foreign Ministry says Hong Kong retains financial center positions — ECNS

In Hong Kong, China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that the city retained third place globally and first place in the Asia-Pacific region in the Global Financial Centres Index 40 report. ECNS reports.

Positions in the global ranking

Commenting on the report, Guo Jiakun said that Hong Kong’s leading positions as an international financial, shipping and trade center had been further confirmed. According to him, the document demonstrates Hong Kong’s attractiveness, influence and competitiveness as an international financial center.

IPO market

The spokesperson for China’s foreign policy department also noted that in the first half of the year, Hong Kong’s initial public offering market ranked second in the world. The amount of funds raised, according to the data he cited, amounted to about HK$203.3 billion.

Chinese Foreign Ministry’s assessment

Guo Jiakun linked Hong Kong’s economic growth to the “one country, two systems” principle. He said that the report’s results were further evidence of confidence in Hong Kong’s special status and advantages, as well as in the prospects of this principle.
