Several tourist entrances at Indonesia’s Mount Bromo closed due to fire
In Indonesia, several tourist access points in the Mount Bromo area in East Java have been closed for an indefinite period following a fire in the Pengol savanna. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing the state news agency.
Visitor restrictions
Rudijanta Tjah'ja Nugraha, head of the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park administration, said the restrictions will remain in place while authorities assess safety in the affected area. Tourists can enter the park through Cemorolawang and Wonokitri, but they are allowed to reach Mount Bromo only as far as the Sea of Sand.
The Lembah Watangan savanna also remains closed. The park can accommodate up to 2,752 visitors.

Another fire in East Java
Separately, joint teams are battling a forest fire in Meru Betiri National Park in East Java that has been ongoing since Tuesday. The fire has engulfed 72 hectares. Jember Regional Disaster Management Agency head Edi Budi Susilo said on Friday that the fire had not yet been fully extinguished.
Strong winds are hampering firefighting efforts and pushing the flames toward populated areas: they have approached to within about 100 meters. The smoke has caused residents breathing difficulties and eye irritation, so officials distributed masks to them. According to Anadolu Agency, although the fire was extinguished on Thursday evening, new fire hotspots appeared in the eastern part of the forest.
