Iranian President Pezeshkian says in India that Tehran will not surrender to the US
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during his first visit to India, said in New Delhi that Tehran does not intend to surrender to the United States. Speaking before Indian religious leaders, he also said that Iran had resisted aggression by the United States and Israel.
As CNBC Top News reports, Pezeshkian arrived in India to attend the BRICS summit and hold a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the Iranian president, the country successfully resisted Israel and the United States and will not yield to intimidation.
Meeting with Modi
During the talks, Modi raised the issue of sailors’ safety and also stressed the need for peace, freedom of navigation and trade. The Indian prime minister reiterated the call to settle the conflict in the Middle East through dialogue and diplomacy.

Pezeshkian’s statements came after remarks by US President Donald Trump. He said that without Washington’s military actions, Iran would allegedly have destroyed Israel and the Middle East and begun striking American cities. Trump also said that he would repeat his actions.
Shipping and oil prices
According to CNBC, since February 28, when the United States and Israel began a war against Iran, shipments of oil and other cargo through the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman have fallen to a minimum. Ships and sailors remained stranded for weeks or months.
The escalation of hostilities between the United States and Iran this month caused global oil prices to rise. This is a significant issue for India, as the country imports nearly 85% of the fuel it needs and depends on energy routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The Indian government reported that two vessels carrying a total of 30 Indian sailors were attacked in the strait in July; 10 sailors were killed as a result of the conflict in the Middle East.
