The birds were released into the wild
All 17 birds were found alive and released into the wild. After checks, police established that the 36-year-old man managed the plot where the equipment was found.
The investigation was conducted by Kofinou police with the assistance of the Game and Fauna Service. The illegal trapping of songbirds is linked to catching them for food, including for preparing the traditional dish ambelopoulia from small songbirds.
