Two men detained in Cyprus on suspicion of using counterfeit banknotes
Police in the city of Ayia Napa, Cyprus, detained two 20-year-old men on suspicion of possessing and circulating counterfeit banknotes. According to police, the men remain in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Attempt to pay at an establishment
As Cyprus Mail reports, law enforcement officers were informed that two customers had attempted to pay for goods at one establishment with banknotes believed to be possibly counterfeit.
Police officers arrived at the scene, where employees of the establishment handed them two 200-euro banknotes. According to police, the banknotes showed signs of being counterfeit. The employees also pointed to two individuals who had tried to use the money for payment.

Five banknotes seized
During a further check, police said it was established that the banknotes did not have the required security features. In total, five banknotes were seized as evidence in the case.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the suspected possession and circulation of counterfeit money.
