Cyprus receives record 284 applications for PRE-SEED programme

The Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) has received a record 284 applications for participation in the PRE-SEED programme, which supports the creation and early development of startups targeting international markets. This was reported by Cyprus Mail.

Record number of applications

The application period for the PRE-SEED/0526 call under the programme “Creation and Initial Development of Startups with an International Orientation” ended on September 11, 2026. All 284 proposals were successfully submitted through the IRIS e-services portal.

RIF noted that this was the highest recorded level of participation in the programme. The foundation links this activity to growing interest among teams and companies in turning innovative ideas into products and services capable of entering international markets.

Further selection

The PRE-SEED programme is intended to support the creation and early development of startups developing innovative products and services with the potential to enter international markets. The next stage of the call will be the selection of submitted proposals.

Under the RESTART call procedures, applications will first undergo a preliminary check, followed by scientific evaluation. The foundation also stressed the need to expand funding and support instruments for new innovative companies so that business ideas developed in the country can be transformed into viable enterprises with international prospects.
