Cyprus to discuss support for workers with caregiving duties — Cyprus Mail
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) will hold a roundtable in Nicosia on September 29, 2026, on supporting workers who care for elderly people, people with disabilities or other family members. The event will include a presentation of a care services subsidy scheme, Cyprus Mail reports.
Balancing work and care
Participants will discuss how workers can combine professional responsibilities with informal care for their loved ones. They will also consider how employers, government bodies and other relevant organisations can better respond to the needs of people who provide such care.
The event is organised as part of Keve’s participation in the European CareDivide project. The roundtable is intended to provide a platform for exchanging information and experience regarding the difficulties faced by workers with caregiving duties. Particular attention will be paid to these workers’ work-life balance.

Care services subsidies
Panos Kouroufexis, a senior officer at the Social Benefits Administration Service of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, will present the Care Services Subsidy Scheme. It provides support for people who need care, their families and informal carers.
An open discussion and a question-and-answer session are planned after the presentation. The roundtable will also present policy proposals developed under CareDivide and discuss how businesses, public administration and social partners can make workplaces better suited to the needs of workers with such responsibilities.
The discussion will be held in Greek on September 29 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Keve building in Nicosia. Participation is free, and registration will remain open until September 25. The CareDivide project is co-funded by the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme and is being implemented in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Romania and Spain.
