Rain and thunderstorms with falling temperatures forecast in Cyprus
Local rain and a possible brief thunderstorm are expected in Cyprus’s mountainous areas on Wednesday. A change in the weather with precipitation and thunderstorms is forecast for Thursday and Friday, Cyprus Mail reports.
Weather on Wednesday
The morning will be mostly clear, but cloud cover will increase in places around midday and early in the afternoon. It will bring isolated precipitation, mainly in the mountains. A brief isolated thunderstorm is also not ruled out.
Maximum temperatures will reach up to 36°C inland, around 33°C on most coasts, 31°C on the west coast, and 28°C in the highlands. Winds will initially be light and variable, at around 3 on the Beaufort scale. Later, they will blow mainly from the southwest and northwest at 3–4 Beaufort, temporarily strengthening to 4–5 Beaufort in some parts of the southern coast. The sea will be slight.
Mostly clear weather is expected overnight into Thursday. Temperatures will fall to around 19°C inland, 22°C on the coast, and 18°C in the highlands.

Precipitation and falling temperatures
On Thursday, the weather will become partly cloudy. In the afternoon, isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible in mountainous and inland areas, with hail also possible during thunderstorms.
Local precipitation and isolated thunderstorms are forecast overnight into Friday, mainly in the western part of the island. Light dust may also be present in the air. On Friday, the sky will range from partly to at times considerably cloudy, with rain and isolated thunderstorms possible intermittently.
On Saturday, cloud cover will increase in places and may bring isolated rain in the mountains, mainly around midday and early in the afternoon. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible there. By Friday, temperatures will drop noticeably and fall below the seasonal norm, before rising slightly on Saturday.
