Rain, thunderstorms and possible hail expected in Cyprus from Sunday — Cyprus Mail

Weather deterioration is forecast in Cyprus from late Sunday evening: rain, thunderstorms, possible hail and stronger winds are expected in some areas. The region is currently under the influence of a weak low-pressure system, while an atmospheric disturbance from the west will begin affecting the island overnight into Monday, Cyprus Mail reports, citing the meteorological service.

Forecast for Sunday and Monday

Variable cloudiness is expected on Sunday, with isolated precipitation possible in mountainous areas after noon. Toward the end of Sunday and overnight into Monday, local rain and isolated thunderstorms will first affect the western and northern parts of the island before spreading to other areas.

Hail is possible during thunderstorms, while winds will become variable and strengthen. Cloudy weather will prevail on Monday, with occasional local rain and isolated thunderstorms. After noon, precipitation is expected mainly in the mountains and eastern Cyprus. Winds will strengthen most in exposed coastal areas.

Temperatures will fall

On Saturday, temperatures were expected to reach around 30 degrees in inland areas as well as along the southern and eastern coasts. Forecast highs were up to 28 degrees on the western and northern coasts and up to 23 degrees in highland areas. At night, temperatures will fall to around 18 degrees inland, 20 degrees on the coast and 11 degrees in the mountains.

Unsettled weather with cloudiness, local rain and isolated thunderstorms will persist on Tuesday. Temperatures will decrease slightly on Monday and remain almost unchanged the following day, slightly below the seasonal norm.
