In the occupied territories, children will be taught to praise the exploits of Russian soldiers
Starting in the new school year, 6th- and 7th-grade students in Ukraine’s occupied territories will be required to compare the actions of participants in the so-called “special military operation” with the heroic deeds of World War II veterans during their history classes. This assignment is included in the textbook “History of Our Region: Donbas and Novorossiya,” which schools are required to use starting September 1.
In particular, students will be asked to view the painting “Heroes of Z,” which depicts Russian soldiers, and explain how it allegedly demonstrates “the continuity of generations in defending the Motherland.”
The textbook also contains a Russian propaganda interpretation of events in Ukraine, including the start of the full-scale war, the occupation of Ukrainian territories, and the so-called “referendums” of 2022.
