A combat drone carrying ammunition was found on the Turkish coast
An armed drone that had washed ashore was discovered on Turkey’s Black Sea coast in the province of Bartın. During an inspection, ammunition was found on board the drone. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the drone’s origin and the circumstances surrounding how it ended up on the shoreline.
The incident occurred on Kapisuyu Beach in the Kurukashile district, located on the border between the provinces of Bartin and Kastamonu.
It is noted that law enforcement agencies confirmed the discovery of active military-grade ammunition on the drone.
Explosive ordnance disposal specialists and military experts dispatched to the scene inspected the drone and the ammunition it was carrying. A controlled operation to neutralize the ammunition is expected to be carried out to avoid any threat to the population and the environment.
“Local residents walking along the coast noticed the unmanned aerial vehicle and reported the discovery to law enforcement. After security forces arrived at the scene, the beach was completely evacuated due to the risk of explosion,” reported the publication Yeni Şafak.
