Playground in West Bank declared a closed military zone
In the Khirbet Umm al-Khair community in the Masafer Yatta area in the southern occupied West Bank, Israeli troops declared a playground a closed military zone. Activist Ahmed al-Hathaleen said that Israeli settlers had previously attacked children and journalists. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
Activist's statement
According to al-Hathaleen, settlers arrived at the playground and attacked children. He claims that Israeli troops and police acted together with the settlers, and that foreign correspondents were among the journalists present at the scene.
After that, the military and police declared the area a closed military zone and removed children, journalists, community residents and activists from it, he said. Al-Hathaleen also reported that Israeli forces remain at the playground and do not allow children to enter its territory.

According to him, this open playground is the only place for children to relax in the community. It has existed for many years, but was recently repaired and equipped. Al-Hathaleen added that activist Odeh al-Hathaleen was killed in this area a year ago and that the playground has repeatedly been attacked by settlers and Israeli forces.
Demolition order
The activist said that in January, the Israeli Civil Administration issued an order to demolish the playground, citing its location in Area C under the Oslo Accords. According to al-Hathaleen, the land belongs to a family from the community that has documents confirming ownership rights.
Under the 1995 Oslo II Accord, the West Bank was divided into Areas A, B and C. Area C accounts for about 60% of the territory and is under full Israeli control.
