NASA showed Crimea as part of Russia during its eclipse broadcast
During its live broadcast of the solar eclipse on August 12, NASA displayed a map on which the temporarily occupied Crimea was marked as part of Russia. This sparked outrage due to the inaccurate depiction of Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.
On August 12, a total solar eclipse was visible around the world, and in Ukraine, it was visible as a partial eclipse.
On Thursday, August 12, a solar eclipse took place, with the path of totality passing through Greenland, Iceland, and Spain, among other places, and NASA broadcast the eclipse live.
A closer look at the footage shows that Crimea is visually depicted as “Russian” and visually separated from Ukraine.
