Israel's population reaches 10.305 million — Jerusalem Post
Israel's population on the eve of Rosh Hashanah is estimated at 10.305 million people — it increased by approximately 124,000 over the year. This is stated in the annual report by Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics, “Israel in Figures,” the Jerusalem Post reports.
The annual population growth rate was 1.2%. Jews and other population categories account for about 7.828 million people, or 78.3% of the country's population. The Arab population totals approximately 2.173 million people, or 21.7%. Another 304,000 residents are foreign citizens.
Natural increase and migration
During the reporting period, approximately 182,000 children were born in Israel, while around 50,000 people died. At the same time, the country recorded a negative international migration balance: migration processes reduced the population by an estimated 8,000 people.
About 24,000 new immigrants arrived in the country, while another approximately 4,000 people moved under family reunification arrangements. At the same time, 21,000 Israelis who had previously left returned, while about 57,000 citizens were classified as having emigrated abroad.

The Central Bureau of Statistics noted that the population data are preliminary. They are based on the 2022 census and take into account changes in the methodology for counting Israelis living abroad, as well as the foreign population.
Fertility, employment and housing
Israel's total fertility rate is 2.88 children per woman, while the average for countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is 1.41. The country has more than 3 million private households, with an average of 3.17 people living in each.
The unemployment rate stood at 2.9%, while 4.577 million people participated in the labor force. The housing price index fell by 1%, new homes became 2.8% cheaper, while average rent increased by 4.3%. The average housing price was estimated at approximately 2.33 million shekels, while average monthly rent was 4,919 shekels.
