NATO has responded to reports of possible Iranian strikes on Europe

NATO stated that the Alliance is ready to counter any threats and defend all of its allies.

This was NATO’s response to a Financial Times report claiming that Iran was allegedly considering strikes on U.S. military facilities in Europe in the event of further escalation of the conflict by the United States.

A NATO spokesperson noted that earlier this year, NATO’s air defense systems successfully intercepted ballistic missiles fired from Iran toward Turkey on four occasions.

According to him, NATO’s deterrence and defense system remains “strong and effective.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed officials in his administration to halt negotiations with Iran and increase economic pressure on Tehran. According to CNN, Washington no longer expects a quick diplomatic resolution and is seeking to force Iran to agree to a deal on U.S. terms.

Hardline Iranian leaders may have developed a plan to prepare for a new phase of the war. According to The Wall Street Journal, Tehran is tightening control over the military, increasing production of missiles and drones, and attempting to expand the zone of confrontation.

The heavy losses of Reaper drones in the war with Iran highlight one of the main challenges of modern warfare: even an expensive, high-tech drone can quickly become vulnerable when operating against an adversary with a powerful air defense system, as reported by The Washington Post.
