YouTube has blocked the channel of pro-Russian director Kusturica

YouTube has removed Serbian director Emir Kusturica’s channel “My Life,” which he created in collaboration with Sputnik Serbia. Before it was blocked, the channel had about 30,000 subscribers.

The video-sharing platform’s decision has already drawn a reaction from Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan, who spoke out in defense of the director.

The channel’s page states that the restriction was due to a violation of YouTube’s terms of service. No further details regarding specific violations were provided.

Kusturica created the “My Life” project in collaboration with Sputnik Serbia. In his videos, the director talked about his personal life, his work in film, and his creative plans.

At the same time, some of Kusturica’s content was devoted to social and political topics. Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Russian propaganda channel RT, reacted to the channel’s removal. She called the Serbian director a close friend and welcomed him to the “club” of those whose channels had been removed from the platform.

Kusturica has previously made pro-Russian statements on multiple occasions. In particular, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the director spoke out against the West’s attempts to “eradicate Russian culture.”

Kusturica stated that such attempts are allegedly doomed to failure. According to him, Russian culture, science, and religion form a world of their own and, at the same time, are an integral part of European culture.

In addition, the director announced plans to make a film dedicated to Russia’s spiritual development and its Orthodox path.

This was reported by Russian propaganda media.

Russian Z-bloggers claimed that Fedorov’s resignation would weaken the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As a reminder, Sternenko spoke of pressure being exerted on military personnel following rallies in support of Fedorov.

On July 16, rallies in support of Mykhailo Fedorov took place for the second time that day in Kyiv, Lviv, and Lutsk following reports of his resignation as defense minister. Participants called on the authorities to continue the reforms that have already begun and to transparently select new leadership for the Ministry of Defense.
