Navrotsky discussed ending the war in Ukraine with Erdogan
The war against Ukraine, in which the Russian Federation is the sole aggressor state, must end as soon as possible, and the best way to achieve this goal is through diplomatic means. This was discussed at a joint press conference following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Ankara.
During the talks, the leaders assessed in detail the current situation in the Russia-Ukraine war, discussed developments regarding Iran, and emphasized the urgent need to restore peace in both cases. Erdogan stated that the parties also analyzed developments in the context of NATO and current regional and global challenges. Nawrocki added that the issue of Russian hybrid actions directed specifically against Poland was raised separately during the talks.
Following the official visit, the leaders reaffirmed the strategic nature of the Polish-Turkish partnership in the areas of security, defense, trade, energy, and transportation. The presidents announced their joint intention to increase the volume of bilateral trade to $15 billion and to significantly strengthen coordination within the North Atlantic Alliance. The Polish leader separately noted the successful cooperation in the defense sector and the Polish army’s effective use of Turkish Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles. In response, the Turkish president expressed gratitude to Warsaw for its consistent support of Ankara’s European integration and his hope that this course would continue in the future.
