Netanyahu may address UN General Assembly in New York on September 24 — Jerusalem Post
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit New York in the United States on September 23–25 to participate in the UN General Assembly. As the Jerusalem Post reports, the Israeli prime minister’s office confirmed the trip in a statement released on Monday.
Netanyahu is expected to address the UN General Assembly on Thursday, September 24. The visit is scheduled after Yom Kippur and before the Sukkot holiday.
Previous UN address
Netanyahu last came to New York for the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2025. At that time, according to the publication, he criticized Western countries in his speech for supporting recognition of Palestinian statehood.

Statements by the New York mayor
Reports of the upcoming trip emerged after New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said on July 22 that he did not have the authority to enforce the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu. During the 2025 election campaign, Mamdani promised to instruct the New York Police Department to detain the Israeli prime minister should he arrive in the city.
In an interview with The New York Times in September 2025, Mamdani called Netanyahu a war criminal and said that he was committing genocide in Gaza. In a July interview on the NYT podcast, he also said that the Israeli prime minister should stand trial in The Hague, while acknowledging that he might not have the legal authority to arrest him.
