The Netherlands will return to Eurovision 2027 — Jerusalem Post
In the Netherlands, public broadcaster NPO has confirmed that the country will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Earlier, AVROTROS withdrew the Netherlands from the 2026 contest because of Israel’s participation, the Jerusalem Post reports.
Change of responsible broadcaster
In August, AVROTROS said it would not participate in Eurovision 2026 because, in the broadcaster’s view, the contest could not be considered neutral while one of the participating countries remained involved in a large-scale military conflict. This referred to Israel.
AVROTROS Director General Taco Zimmerman said that the contest had been created to unite people and countries, but international conflicts were increasingly affecting its neutral nature. AVROTROS said it had returned responsibility for the Netherlands’ participation in Eurovision to NPO. NPO coordinates the country’s public broadcasting system.

Contest in Bulgaria
The European Broadcasting Union initially set September 15 as the deadline for countries to confirm their participation. After assuming responsibility for the Dutch entry, NPO requested additional time to assess its options and was granted an extension until the end of September.
The Netherlands was among five countries that withdrew from Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, along with Ireland, Spain, Iceland and Slovenia. Irish broadcaster RTÉ later said that it would also skip the 2027 contest and would not broadcast it. Spain and Iceland are still considering participation. The Eurovision 2027 semi-finals and final are scheduled for May 11–15 in Burgas, Bulgaria. They will be hosted by Bulgarian National Television jointly with the European Broadcasting Union.
