Nigeria beat England and reached the U-20 World Cup quarter-finals — Premium Times Nigeria

Nigeria’s national team defeated England 3-0 in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and advanced to the quarter-finals. The Nigerian team will play their next match on September 20 in the Polish city of Łódź at Stadion Miejski ŁKS.

Nigeria score three goals

Nigeria opened the scoring in the eighth minute, with Tosin Rafiu netting her second goal of the tournament. In the 26th minute, England had a chance to equalize, but Nigeria captain Christiana Uzoma prevented Princess Ademiluyi from scoring.

Eight minutes later, Uzoma saved a penalty taken by Rachel Maltby. Nigeria retained their narrow lead until the break.

In the 47th minute, Seymeieha Janet Akekoromoweyi doubled Nigeria’s lead. Mary Mamudu set the final score in the 73rd minute.

As Premium Times Nigeria reports, this is Nigeria’s second victory in the tournament. In four matches, the team scored 13 goals, recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat. The Nigerian team also kept two clean sheets.

In the quarter-finals, Nigeria will face Poland or Colombia. Kickoff is scheduled for 18:30 Nigerian time.
