In Jerusalem, Israel, firefighters rescued nine people from a five-story residential building on Meir-Avner Street, where a fire broke out. According to the Jerusalem Post, all nine people who were trapped in the building were rescued without injuries.

Fire in shelter

Israel's Fire and Rescue Authority reported that the fire started in the building's shelter. According to the agency, it was caused by an electric scooter battery.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, searched the building for other people who might have remained inside, and ventilated the premises to clear the smoke.

Heavy smoke

Battalion commander Adi Mor said that rescuers worked in difficult conditions due to heavy smoke inside the residential building. According to him, the actions of the units made it possible to rescue nine trapped people without injuries.

Mor also said that fire crews remained at the scene to complete the search and clear the building of smoke.
