Hungary's new government is preparing to review its policy toward Ukraine
Newly elected Prime Minister Péter Magyar plans to visit Poland next week, where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. According to reports, Hungary’s new government is considering revising its approach to Ukraine and its foreign policy priorities.
This was reported with reference to the Polish broadcaster RMF24.
Polish government spokesperson Adam Szlapka stated that the Hungarian prime minister’s visit is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20. “It will likely be next week, on Wednesday,” Szlapka said.
According to him, in Warsaw, Magyar will hold talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and will also meet with the country’s President Karol Nawrocki.
Slapka noted that the new Hungarian government’s first decisions indicate a possible shift in Budapest’s policy toward Ukraine, Russia, and the European Union.
“There will be a change regarding Ukraine, the approach to Russia, and issues concerning Europe,” the Polish government spokesperson stated. Péter Magyar himself previously announced that during his trip he would visit Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk.
In Gdańsk, the Hungarian prime minister also plans to meet with former Polish President and Solidarity leader Lech Wałęsa.
