UAE Confirms Full Withdrawal of Its Forces From Yemen, Calls for De-Escalation

The United Arab Emirates has confirmed that its remaining forces have fully withdrawn from Yemen, declaring the end of its counterterrorism mission in the country and calling for de-escalation and a return to internationally supported political processes as the path to sustainable peace.

The announcement comes after recent coalition air strikes in the south and calls by Yemen’s authorities for foreign forces to leave the country. With backing from regional partners, the move has been framed as a step toward reducing military presence and stabilising conditions on the ground.

Tensions had escalated around the port city of Mukalla, where coalition forces accused actors linked to southern factions of transporting military equipment and vehicles. Against this backdrop, the UAE’s emphasis on dialogue and diplomacy is being viewed as a signal of support for political rather than military approaches.

The outlook will depend on whether the parties can prevent further escalation and move toward negotiated solutions.
