UAE condemns Ben-Gvir’s storming of Al-Aqsa compound — The National
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, carried out by Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir together with hundreds of settlers. The ministry warned against a “provocative escalation” and unacceptable manifestations of extremism, The National reports.
Call to Israeli authorities
The UAE Foreign Ministry called on the Israeli government to take full responsibility for the incident, condemn the hostile actions and hold all those involved accountable.

In a statement released on the evening of September 29, the ministry said that further attacks, as well as the incitement of hatred and violence, constitute a systematic extremist campaign. According to the ministry, it is directed not only against the Palestinian people but also threatens social peace and creates a risk of further escalation.
Status of the compound
The Emirati foreign ministry also stressed the need to respect the historical and legal status quo of the Al-Aqsa compound. The UAE stated the importance of respecting Jordan’s custodial role over the site and the authority of the Jerusalem Waqf, which manages the affairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
