The Lithuanian foreign minister noted that NATO could destroy Russian bases in Kaliningrad
If necessary, the North Atlantic Alliance will be able to completely destroy Russian military facilities in the Kaliningrad region to stop the threat.
This was stated by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys in an interview with the Swiss publication NZZ. The diplomat emphasized the need to demonstrate determination and the ability to break through the fortifications that Russia has built in this enclave.
According to the official, the allies have all the necessary weapons to raze Russian air defense bases and missile facilities to the ground if necessary. At the same time, Budrys acknowledged that Lithuania itself currently lacks air defense capabilities amid regular violations of its airspace by Russian aircraft and drones. Despite this, the foreign minister reaffirmed his full confidence in Article 5 of the NATO Treaty on collective defense, calling the alliance the most powerful military organization in the world.
