French poll shows lowest rejection rate for Le Pen — Politico Europe

In France, Marine Le Pen proved to be the least rejected by voters among the politicians included in a new rejection barometer ahead of the 2027 presidential election. According to Politico Europe, 62% of respondents rated the likelihood of voting for her in the future as low or zero, while 30% seriously consider such a choice.

The survey was conducted by the Cluster 17 institute among 2,045 people on September 15–16, 2026. Respondents were asked to rate, on a scale from 0 to 10, how likely they were to ever vote for a number of French politicians. Zero meant completely ruling out such a vote, while 10 meant considering such a choice entirely possible.

The study was conducted online using the quota method. The data were adjusted for socio-demographic indicators, as well as for a reconstruction of voting in the first round of the 2022 presidential election and in the 2024 European Parliament elections.

Highest rejection rate

The highest level of rejection was recorded for environmentalist representative Marine Tondelier: 81% of respondents rated the likelihood of voting for her between 0 and 3 points. For Jean-Luc Mélenchon, this figure stood at 73%.

At the same time, 19% of respondents rated the likelihood of voting for Mélenchon at 7–10 points, while the figure for Tondelier was 9%. Among French people aged 18 to 34, 42% consider voting for Mélenchon likely or very likely.

Figures for other politicians

A low or zero likelihood of voting for Édouard Philippe was reported by 68% of respondents, for Gabriel Attal by 72%, for Raphaël Glucksmann by 66%, and for Bruno Retailleau by 69%. Voting for Le Pen is categorically ruled out by 56% of respondents, for Philippe by 55%, and for Glucksmann by 53%. For Tondelier and Mélenchon, this figure is 68% and 66%, respectively.

None of the tested politicians scored more than 3 points out of 10 for their ability to unite the French. The highest result in this category — 3 points — was received by Glucksmann and Philippe. Respondents rated the risk of authoritarian drift highest for Mélenchon — an average of 6.7 points out of 10; for Le Pen, the figure was 5.6 points.
