A poll showed a tie in the gubernatorial race in Ceará

In the Brazilian state of Ceará, incumbent Governor Elmano de Freitas and former minister Sírio Gomes are tied in the gubernatorial race, each with 44% support. These findings from a Real Time Big Data poll were reported by The Rio Times.

The survey was conducted August 15–19 among 1,600 voters. The margin of error is two percentage points at a 95% confidence level. The poll is registered with Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court under number CE-08223/2026.

In a simulated runoff, Freitas would receive 46% and Gomez 45%, meaning the difference falls within the margin of error. A previous Datafolha poll, published on August 13 and commissioned by O Povo, showed 52% support for Gomez versus 33% for Freitas. It was based on responses from 1,022 respondents surveyed August 10–12.
