In Warsaw, a Georgian man stopped a government car and climbed onto the hood

In Warsaw, a 41-year-old Georgian citizen stepped onto the roadway, forced a car belonging to the Polish Ministry of Finance to stop, and then climbed onto the hood and walked across the car. The incident occurred on the evening of August 20.

 

This was reported by Jakub Pacyniak, a spokesperson for the Warsaw Police Department.

The incident took place on Thursday evening on Nowy Świat Street near the General Charles de Gaulle Roundabout in Warsaw.

A 41-year-old Georgian man, walking in the middle of the roadway, forced an Audi to stop. According to Senior Inspector Jakub Pacyniak, “preliminary findings” indicate that the vehicle belonged to the Ministry of Finance.

According to media reports, former Deputy Minister of Finance Hanna Maischyk was in the car.

“From the police’s perspective, the procedure in such cases is always the same,” he assured, adding that law enforcement is required to intervene and act in accordance with established procedures regardless of who is in the vehicle. As he noted, no one was injured.

The man was detained by officers from the prevention unit. Further measures are currently being taken regarding him. At the time of the incident, the man was sober.

According to reports by RMF FM, the Georgian national is in Poland legally.

The police officer also noted that the detainee allegedly committed “a series of offenses,” posing a threat to himself and others. As he explained, the man was walking in the middle of the roadway and was not obeying traffic lights.

Regarding his climbing onto the Ministry of Finance vehicle, there is also “suspicion of a crime related to property damage,” according to Polsat News.

Earlier in Warsaw, a Ukrainian citizen was detained on suspicion of plotting an assassination attempt against a representative of the Ukrainian defense sector on behalf of Russian intelligence agencies. After a failed terrorist attack in Irpin, he planned to go into hiding in Poland.

A suspect in the attack on Ukrainian children was detained in Poland.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk responded to the attack by two individuals on Ukrainian children in Bydgoszcz.

Prior to that, on the evening of August 1, an attack took place in the town of Kozhukhiv (Lubusz Voivodeship) against three Ukrainian citizens—37-year-old Volodymyr, 32-year-old Vasyl, and 28-year-old Adelina. The incident took place on the private grounds of a hostel where the victims reside.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław is monitoring reports of the attack on three Ukrainian citizens in the town of Kozhukhiv, Lubusz Voivodeship, Poland.
