Two fires broke out in residential buildings in Switzerland overnight. As a result of the incidents, five people are missing, and 19 others were injured.

The first fire broke out shortly after midnight in the town of Tuzis in the canton of Graubünden in eastern Switzerland.

The fire completely destroyed the building, which housed a restaurant and residential apartments.

The fire caused the stairwell to collapse, forcing rescuers to use a crane to open the roof of the building.

According to police, five people remain missing. Meanwhile, 14 people managed to escape the building, eight of whom were injured.

Two of the injured are in serious condition. They were transported to hospitals in various cities in the canton of Graubünden, as well as to Zurich.

About 100 firefighters worked at the scene. On Friday morning, they continued to deal with the aftermath of the fire.

According to preliminary information, the fire started on the second floor of the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Another fire broke out late in the evening on August 20 in an apartment in the city of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland, near the border with Germany.

The fire broke out in the kitchen. Eleven people were injured in the incident, and nine of them were hospitalized. A police officer was also among the injured.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading to other apartments in the building.

As a result, 19 people were injured in two fires in Switzerland, and five are considered missing. Law enforcement officials are investigating the causes of both incidents.

The police reported this on Friday, August 21, according to Euronews.
