Pakistani military says 33 militants killed in Balochistan — Dawn

Pakistani security forces said that 33 militants have been killed in counterterrorism operations in Balochistan province since September 21. This was reported by Dawn, citing Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the country’s armed forces.

Operation in the Shaban area

According to the ISPR, on September 24, security forces discovered additional militant hideouts during an operation in the Shaban area. Following an intense exchange of fire, five people whom the Pakistani side described as India-sponsored terrorists were killed, the agency said.

The ISPR noted that after this operation, the total number of those killed since September 21 stood at 22. The military also reported the seizure of weapons, ammunition and explosives at locations where, according to its information, militants had been hiding. The clearing of the area will continue until the threat is fully neutralized, the agency said.

Operation in Nushki

On September 25, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Nushki area. According to the ISPR’s account, the military engaged militants at their hideout, resulting in the deaths of 11 people.

Pakistani authorities use the name Fitna al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan movement, and the term Fitna al-Hindustan for groups it has designated as operating in Balochistan. The ISPR links these names to its claims about India’s role in terrorism and the destabilization of Pakistan.

The agency also said that the counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-i-Istehkam concept would continue with the participation of Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies.
