South Africa and Russia have agreed to expand their military cooperation
The land forces commands of the Republic of South Africa and Russia have agreed to expand their military cooperation.
The relevant agreements were reached during a visit to Moscow by Lieutenant General Lawrence Mbata, commander of the South African Army.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the parties discussed joint projects aimed at improving the combat readiness of their armies and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in various areas.
The South African delegation also includes other military officials. During the visit, they are scheduled to tour Russian military academies and defense enterprises.
Despite its official non-aligned stance on Russia’s war against Ukraine, South Africa maintains close ties with Moscow, particularly within the BRICS framework.
