Ilya Yashin's party called on Russians to vote against United Russia at noon on September 20
The Russian party “Peaceful Russia,” led by opposition politician Ilya Yashin, has called on Russian citizens to take part in a protest against the war and Vladimir Putin’s policies during the State Duma elections.
The party is calling on everyone who disagrees with the Kremlin’s policies to go to the polls on September 20 at exactly 12:00 p.m. and vote against “United Russia.” The action has been dubbed “Noon for a Peaceful Russia.”
According to the organizers’ plan, this simultaneous voting is intended to serve as a legal way to demonstrate opposition to the war and the Russian government.
“Peaceful Russia” issued the call after the Russian Supreme Court barred the anti-war “Yabloko” party from participating in the State Duma elections.
Yashin’s party also called on Russians to campaign for a vote against “United Russia.” They stated that the fewer votes Putin’s party receives, the stronger the position of the anti-war segment of Russian society will be.
“Every vote against United Russia is a vote against the war,” Peaceful Russia declared.
Earlier, a Moscow court banned the Yabloko party from participating in the parliamentary elections.
