China's Changzheng-7A exploded after launching from the Wenchang Space Center
The Chinese "Changzheng-7A" launch vehicle crashed shortly after liftoff from the Wenchang Space Launch Site on Hainan Island. The rocket exploded in midair, and the launch ended in failure.
This was reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
“An anomaly occurred during the rocket’s flight, resulting in a failed launch. The specific cause is under investigation,” the report stated.
The accident occurred approximately 90 seconds after liftoff. The rocket was supposed to place the Zhongxing-4B satellite into orbit.
This was the first failure for the “Changzheng-7A” in more than six years, since its maiden flight in March 2020. At that time, a malfunction also led to the mission’s failure.
