Pashinyan thanked Putin for his balanced position
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This was reported by the Armenian government’s press service on June 1, the agency Panorama reports.
“The President of the Russian Federation congratulated the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia on his birthday and conveyed his best wishes. Prime Minister Pashinyan thanked the President of the Russian Federation for the call and the congratulations.
The two leaders also exchanged views on current issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia thanked the President of the Russian Federation for his balanced position, friendly tone, and support on a number of contentious issues.
The two leaders agreed to continue their discussions at the earliest opportunity in a face-to-face meeting,” the statement reads.
Earlier, Russia recalled its ambassador from Armenia for consultations in Moscow amid reports of Yerevan’s rapprochement with the European Union. The Russian Foreign Ministry attributes this move to political differences between the countries. In fact, this is yet another sign of tension in relations between Moscow and Yerevan.
