Maria Chaika—the daughter of Alexander Chaika, an army general in the aggressor state of the Russian Federation—may have been injured in the explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in central Moscow. This was reported by the Russian publication “Versтка,” citing a source close to the restaurant’s management.

The lists of victims published by REN TV and 112—channels linked to security forces—include a 25-year-old “Maria P.” According to this information, she sustained an open head injury. “Verstka” notes that Maria Chaiko is also 25 years old, and in leaks from databases, she is referred to by the surname Peredriy. The publication points out that Chaiko and Peredriy share the same residential address and date of birth.

The list of victims also includes a 27-year-old “Danylo P.” According to “Verstka,” this may be Danilo Peredriy: the leaked data indicates that he is 27 years old, and one of Maria Chaiko’s accounts appears among his friends on VK. The publication speculates that Peredriy may be the last name of the general’s daughter’s husband.

An explosion occurred at a restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square on the evening of August 1. Officials reported three fatalities and 15 injured. The next day, media outlets reported that two more victims had died in the hospital. According to the latest data from “Verstka,” five people were killed in the explosion, and another 21 were injured.

Russian media and Telegram channels speculated that the target of the explosion may have been a private celebration of Alexander Chaika’s 55th birthday. On May 4, 2026, Vladimir Putin appointed him Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces. In March, the Council of the European Union imposed sanctions against nine individuals accused of war crimes during the Russian occupation of Bucha; Chaika was included on the list. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) filed an indictment against the general with the court. According to the investigation, he was directly involved in the planning, preparation, and invasion of Russian troops into the northern regions of Ukraine.
