Near Rome, a train derailed after hitting some cows
In a suburb of Rome, a regional train derailed after hitting several cows that had wandered onto the tracks. None of the approximately 450 passengers or railway staff were injured, according to “European Truth,” citing the Italian news agencies ANSA and AGI.
The accident occurred at 5:10 a.m. on Monday, August 3, shortly after the train departed from the Piana Bella station in a suburb of Rome. After hitting the animals, the train derailed.

According to the railway administration, the accident damaged the train and infrastructure. Passengers were transferred to a replacement train, which continued their journey along the route.
Traffic on this section of the line has been partially restricted. Passengers on the line were warned about possible delays and cancellations of upcoming commuter trains. Earlier in July, train service in the Netherlands was halted for several hours on a section of track due to kittens on the tracks.
