Support for Estonia’s Social Democrats reaches a two-year high
Support for Estonia’s opposition Social Democratic Party (SDE) stood at 15.3% in the latest poll — the party’s highest result since September 2024. ERR News reports on the results of the Norstat survey.
Distribution of party support
The highest support among Estonian parties is held by the opposition Isamaa party — 25.3%. The opposition Centre Party is also in second place with 21.7%. The gap between them is 3.6 percentage points.
SDE ranks third. It is followed by the coalition Reform Party with 12.9% and the opposition EKRE with 12.7%. The non-parliamentary Parempoolsed has 6.7% support, exceeding the 5% threshold required to win mandates under Estonia’s electoral system. Another coalition party, Eesti 200, received 1.6%.
The two governing coalition parties together were supported by 14.5% of respondents. At the same time, the four opposition parties represented in the Riigikogu have a combined 75% support.

Assessment of seat distribution
According to a calculation based on the latest poll, Isamaa could receive 29 seats in the Riigikogu instead of its current eight. The Centre Party would win 24 mandates instead of seven, and SDE — 16 instead of nine. The Reform Party could expect 13 seats instead of 36, EKRE — 13 instead of nine, and Parempoolsed — six.
The survey covered the period from August 3 to 29. It involved 4,000 Estonian citizens aged 18 and over who are eligible to vote in Riigikogu elections. Norstat publishes results every week, aggregated over the previous four weeks.
Assessments of the government and prime minister
In the monthly survey, 35% of respondents rated the government’s work as very good or fairly good, while 60% rated it as fairly poor or very poor. At the beginning of July, these figures were 29% and 67%, respectively.
The work of Prime Minister Kristen Michal of the Reform Party was approved by 25% of those surveyed, while 60% disapproved. The next direct elections to the Riigikogu are scheduled for March 2027.
