Industrial production in Estonia rose by 2.3% in July
Industrial production in Estonia increased by 2.3% year-on-year in July at constant prices. Growth was recorded in all three industrial sectors, ERR News reports, citing Statistics Estonia.
Sector dynamics
Output in the mining industry increased by 13.5%, in energy by 16%, and in manufacturing by 1.1%. Before July, manufacturing had declined for five consecutive months.
Compared with June, total industrial production adjusted for seasonal factors rose by 0.9%. Manufacturing output increased by 0.2% month-on-month.
Wood processing and machinery
Riina Kadarik, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that manufacturing growth was driven by wood processing, the country’s largest manufacturing industry. Its output rose by 10.8% compared with July of the previous year. Nearly half of the growth in this industry was generated by the production of solid fuels from plant biomass.

Production of machinery and equipment increased by 30.3%, primarily due to the output of lifting equipment and specialised machinery. Production increased in two-thirds of manufacturing activities. In particular, food production rose by 1.5%, for the first time since December 2025.
At the same time, production of fabricated metal products declined by 0.9% year-on-year in July, continuing a decline for the second consecutive month.
Sales and energy
In July, 65.2% of manufacturing output was directed to foreign markets. Compared with July 2025, sales of its products at current prices increased by 7.9%: by 8.6% on the domestic market and by 7.5% on the export market.
Electricity production increased by 9.6%, while heat production rose by 13.2%. According to Kadarik, the increase in electricity production was mainly explained by higher domestic generation, while import volumes remained close to the previous year’s level.
