The Kremlin was scared of Rubio's visit to Armenia

The Kremlin commented on relations between Russia and Armenia amid political statements and increasingly visible tensions in the information sphere between the two countries. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow and Yerevan remain “friends” despite differences in their approaches to international policy and integration processes.

This is reported by Russian media.

The journalist’s question was as follows:

“Tomorrow Rubio will fly to Yerevan, and from there, anti-Russian statements will likely be made again. Yerevan is already becoming a platform for such anti-Russian statements. How should we deal with this, and how does the Kremlin view this practice?”

In response, Peskov stated:

“Armenia’s choice of a European integration vector will inevitably lead to the loss of preferential terms of cooperation with Russia,” while also mentioning the preferential price for Russian gas.

At the same time, Russia recently imposed restrictions on the supply of mineral water and alcohol from Armenia, which was perceived as another step in the tense trade relations between the countries.

Armenian authorities called Russian propagandist Simonyan a “fantastic creature.”

Earlier, Armenia appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.

The EU has confirmed its support for Armenia’s European aspirations.
