Peskov denied that there was a threat to Zelenskyy's plane as it took off from Chisinau
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian dictator, stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plane was allegedly not in danger from a Russian drone during its departure from Chisinau.
According to Peskov, Ukraine allegedly continues to resort to various provocations in an attempt to “drag its Western backers into the war.”
“As for the alleged threat to the plane, it did not exist. The Ukrainians themselves acknowledged this,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman denied that the presence of a Russian drone in Moldovan airspace posed a danger to the Ukrainian president’s plane.
At the same time, it was previously reported that on September 8, Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s flight from Chisinau to Norway was delayed due to the appearance of a Russian drone in Moldovan airspace. The country’s airspace was temporarily closed due to the incident.
The Ukrainian and Moldovan sides viewed the situation as a serious incident, and Moldova’s ambassador to the U.S., Vladislav Kulminsky, suggested that the drone may not have been flying toward Zelenskyy’s plane by accident.
At the same time, Peskov denied that there was any threat to the Ukrainian president’s plane, calling it “ephemeral.”
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated that the drone nearly struck the plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the first lady as it was taking off from Moldova bound for Oslo.
In Moldova, the departure of the plane on which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was to travel to Norway was delayed due to a report of a drone. While the alert was in effect, authorities closed the country’s airspace.
The Russian jet drone, which violated Moldova’s airspace on September 8, may have been deliberately flying toward Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plane.
