Oil buyers have already found an alternative to the Strait of Hormuz — Bloomberg

Even after shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is potentially restored, the global oil market is unlikely to return to its pre-war operating model. According to analysts, importers have already adapted to supply disruptions and established alternative routes.

Despite the markets’ positive reaction to the temporary agreement between the U.S. and Iran, which provides for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, experts believe that a full resumption of trade will take time. In particular, it will be necessary to rebuild the trust of shipowners, insurers, and oil refining companies.

Market participants note that many companies have diversified their supplies, built up additional reserves, and reorganized their logistics in recent months. As a result, a return to the previous trade structure is unlikely.

Analysts also emphasize that even after the strait reopens, risks remain related to the clearance of the waterway, potential congestion in ports, and new geopolitical challenges.
