Iran says it is ready to ‘turn the page’ in relations with the UAE

In Delhi, India, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, after a meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that Tehran and the United Arab Emirates had agreed to leave the conflict in the past and work together on the future. NDTV World reports.

Meeting on the sidelines of BRICS

The talks took place the previous day on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India. Pezeshkian called his conversation with the UAE representative constructive and said that the sides had agreed to “turn the page,” look to the future and build it together.

According to the outlet, this meeting was the highest-level contact between Iran and the UAE since the situation in the Middle East escalated. Last month, the UAE announced the suspension of trade and financial operations with Iran.

Pezeshkian’s statements on the region

During the meeting, the Iranian president said that his country had no problems with either the UAE or other states in the region. At the same time, he spoke out against the presence of U.S. military bases in Persian Gulf countries.

Pezeshkian also accused the United States of using these bases to attack Iran during the war. He called Emiratis and other peoples of the region “brothers,” emphasizing the long history of trade ties and mutual support.
