Ogun State in Nigeria approves road reconstruction, hospitals and power initiative
The Executive Council of Ogun State in Nigeria has approved a package of infrastructure and economic projects covering road reconstruction, the construction of two hospitals, participation in electricity generation and the establishment of an agency to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. This was reported by Premium Times Nigeria, citing the governor’s special adviser on information and strategy, Kayode Akinmade.
Road projects
The council approved the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre road between Siun Junction and Iperu Junction, connecting the Obafemi Owode and Ikenne local government areas. It also approved the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre Simawa–Lukosi/Ogijo road in the Sagamu local government area.
In addition, the council approved changes to the reconstruction projects for the Sango–Ota–Ijoko–Agbado–Oke-Aro–Akute road, the first phase of which is in the Ifo local government area, as well as the 69.2-kilometre Abeokuta–Abule Egba road. According to Akinmade, the work is expected to improve transport links and the movement of people and goods across the state.

Hospitals, businesses and electricity
In healthcare, the council approved the construction of new general hospitals in Itori, Ewekoro area, and Aiyepe, Odogbolu area. According to Akinmade, the projects are expected to expand healthcare infrastructure and bring medical services closer to community residents.
The council also approved the establishment of the Ogun State Enterprise Development Agency. The agency will be mandated to coordinate and strengthen support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, promote entrepreneurship development, business access to opportunities and company expansion.
Separately, the council approved the state’s participation in electricity generation through Gateway Power Limited. Akinmade said the initiative is expected to provide a more reliable electricity supply to the state’s industrial and commercial sectors. The council also approved the appointment of Otunba Osunsina Olumide John as the new Olu of Ifo in the Ifo local government area.
