Nigerian police report international arrests and extraditions
During the observance of the UN International Day of Police Cooperation, the Nigerian police reported on the results of cooperation with Interpol and law enforcement agencies in other countries. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the agency said that international partnerships help trace suspects, find victims, recover stolen property and combat cybercrime.
Results of cooperation with Interpol
According to the police, in 2025–2026, cooperation with Interpol and partner National Central Bureaus contributed to the arrest of more than 10 wanted persons. The agency also claims that more than five international extraditions and transfers of persons took place, while more than 60 victims of human trafficking and kidnappings were rescued.
The police also reported the final forfeiture of assets worth more than 2 billion Nigerian naira. More than 43 financial crime cases, according to the agency, are still under investigation. The agency said it received more than 15 cybercrime requests from partner bureaus, interacted with more than 30 such bureaus, and conducted investigations spanning more than 30 countries and jurisdictions.

Examples of arrests
Among the results of international coordination, the police cited the arrest of Victor Fejemirokum. According to the agency, he was wanted in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps employee and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The police said that after tracking his movements through a video shared on social media, the man was located in Ghana, arrested by Ghanaian police and later returned to Nigeria.
The police also reported the arrest of Mark Oko in the Okota area of Lagos, describing him as a Brazilian citizen wanted in a cocaine trafficking case. According to the agency, he left Brazil after being released on bail. Following his arrest, procedures were initiated for his extradition to Brazil.
Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu, according to the police, confirmed the intention to strengthen cooperation with Interpol and other international law enforcement partners. This includes the exchange of operational information, coordinated investigations, personnel training and cross-border operational support.
