New York Police Shoot Machete-Wielding Attacker at Grand Central Station — The Guardian
A violent incident involving an armed man occurred at Grand Central, one of New York City’s busiest subway stations.
The Guardian reports on this.
Anthony Griffin, 44, who identified himself as “Lucifer,” carried out a series of unprovoked attacks on subway passengers.
The assailant, armed with a machete, began randomly selecting victims from among the people on the platform.
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene quickly, attempting to stop the attack and protect civilians from further violence.
The police opened fire only when the man attacked the officers with a knife in his hands. The attacker later died in the hospital from gunshot wounds, despite doctors’ attempts to stabilize his condition.
The victims of the random attack were mostly elderly people who could not quickly flee from the armed assailant. Among the injured were two men aged 84 and 65, as well as a 70-year-old woman, who found themselves in the attacker’s path.
The injuries sustained by the passengers are extremely severe due to the nature of the cold weapon used by Griffin. Medical personnel documented deep lacerations to the victims’ faces and even a skull fracture in one of the men.
In Sydney, Australia, four people, including a bishop, were injured in a knife attack during a service at an Assyrian church on Monday.
The Ayatollah regime is accused of the worst massacre in modern Iranian history.
