Vucic voiced his support for Orban ahead of the parliamentary elections

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić publicly expressed his support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on the day of the parliamentary elections.

Despite the disappointing results of opinion polls for the current Hungarian government, the Serbian leader emphasized the importance of personal friendship and bilateral relations.

Aleksandar Vučić posted a statement to that effect on his Instagram page, noting that his position would remain unchanged regardless of the results of the election.

He emphasized that the Serbian people are grateful to the head of the Hungarian government for strengthening ties between the two countries.

“I don’t know whether Viktor Orbán will win or lose. I only know that I am infinitely grateful to him for the friendship between Serbs and Hungarians,” the Serbian president stated.

Aleksandar Vučić also added that Serbs have a special approach to gratitude that is not dependent on the political situation.

He assured that even if he loses the election, Viktor Orbán can count on eternal gratitude from the Serbian side “for everything” he has done.

Orbán convened the National Security Council following an attempted sabotage on a gas pipeline in Serbia.

Vance will visit Budapest ahead of the Hungarian elections amid support for Orbán.

Orbán also issued a sharp demand to Ukraine.
